Easy Pervasive Communication

An ethernet interface is a good start, but not enough to make your users able to communicate with your embedded solution.

Communicate with the Pervasive Internet

Even though the Internet is designed for communication, Web technology was not build for communication with the Pervasive Internet.

What is causing the problem?

  • Routers, NAT and Firewalls make it difficult to access the Local Area Networks - where most Pervasive systems will be located
  • Dynamic IP allocation makes it hard to figure out where the Pervasive systems are located
  • Simple use of DNS is/was not designed for identifying Pervasive systems
  • The large "footprint" of standard webtechnology, is a challenge for Pervasive systems where resources are generally considered sparse

Generally the problems can be specified to be:

A more general approach to the problem

The current internet setup contains the following problems:
  • Identification - How do you identify internet connected devices on "closed/private" LAN's
  • Connection - How do you create direct connection between internet connected devices "closed/private" LAN's (especially if it's different LAN's)
  • Security - How do you make certain that your connections are correctly authenticated

Nabto technology is the cure for the given problems.

Nabto's solution

  • Identification - Nabto uses a indirect DNS mapping to identify Pervasive Systems - no single point of failure
  • Connection - Nabto creates web-connections based on VOIP - a well proven standard
  • Security - Nabto uses state-of-the-art security standards to create strong authentication between clients and embedded systems - be sure of who connects
